When I first spoke to Shuku, I asked if she had considered a theme for her 21st birthday party. It was to be celebrated at her family home in a chocolate-box perfect village in North Yorkshire. She nervously replied 'Prince and Princesses' and waited for my reaction. My heart sang; I was going to be a fairy Godmother.
Now if only I could have found some of those enchanted mice I've heard so much about...?
We themed each table around a different fairytale. The central table for Shuku and her closest friends was a homage to the iconic red rose from Beauty and The Beast.
Props were sourced from every corner of the world; many were pieces collected by Shuku and her family on their travels. Bold seasonal blooms, candles and chocolate touches competed the table styling.
The summer house was transformed into an Arabian Nights chill area, the doors opened out onto the fire pit, 'smores and views of the Howardian Hills.
The guests were served a champagne and canapé reception, supper, and chocolate fountain, concluded with a croquembouche birthday cake. The taste-chosen cocktails proved very popular, especially the 'Imperial Beauty'.
An interactive 'Magic Mirror' photo booth gave a nod to Snow White and provided candid shots to take home. The DJ dropped tracks selected by the family and guests ensuring the celebrations continued long past dawn.
