Having met while studying at the University of York, returning to the city to marry brought Eleanor & Pemu's story beautifully full circle.
Their guests travelled from across Yorkshire and London, with Pemu’s family joining from as far afield as the US and Kenya, making the celebration a wonderful gathering of the people and places that have shaped their lives.
The day began with an welcome drinks and traditional Kenyan snacks, before a short walk to their intimate ceremony at the Oratory, before guests were swept into the heart of the city for an elegant evening at one of York’s smartest five-star hotels.
For couples travelling from overseas, there is something particularly magical about celebrating in a city like York - centuries of history, beautiful architecture and quintessentially English character providing a backdrop that feels both extraordinary and authentically British.

The styling was designed to capture the romance of an October evening, with a palette of soft whites, warm caramel and deeper autumnal tones. Rather than traditional autumnal styling, I wanted the design to feel sophisticated, atmospheric and deeply romantic. Classic roses in ivory and caramel were arranged generously throughout the reception, their soft, tonal palette complemented by elegant table details and an abundance of candlelight.
The room was transformed as evening fell, with flickering candles creating an intimate, almost cinematic glow across the tables and bringing warmth to the luxurious surroundings of the hotel. Every detail was considered to feel cohesive without ever becoming overly formal - an elegant celebration with a sense of ease, warmth and wonderful energy. For me, this was the essence of Eleanor & Pemu’s wedding: a beautifully refined evening rooted in their story, their city and the timeless romance of celebrating in York.
